New Years day of last year they met in their hometown, in an abandoned office building, to begin work on their first full length LP “Anywhere But Where I Am”. Having no set plan or guide, the album grew naturally as they left their lives in Chicago for hot summer days, skipping stones in the rivers of Tennessee.

We’ve never done end of the year lists mostly because we’re a really charming combo of lazy and indecisive, but for whatever reason the other day I made a list on my phone of my top albums for 2012 and I figured I’d share them.
It’s Brian. Sometimes when you’re in a touring band…things can get stressful. Your van breaks down and you have to drive multiple members multiple ways by friends to get you to the show, so you can get to the next town. One person gets sick, and you try to believe in Emergen-C…though it rarely prevents the whole party getting sick. You forget a small, but vital piece of your show at the last venue, and have to scrap together a way to play the music you want people to hear.

You don’t have anywhere to go, or anyone to be around other than your three or four friends who are dealing with the same anxiety you are at that moment. But the best part about being in a touring band is that you’re truly in it together. You can’t go anywhere or move on with your journey without the person beside you, and vice versa.

Anyway…last night one of those stressful and heartbreaking things happened to us after a show in Atlanta.

Our beloved Jo-Jo. Great (Grey) and mighty Vandalf. The Grey Pipe.

Your van is your home on tour and our home was broken in to. Our laptop that we use for all of our virtual instruments was stolen (the synths we need, my favorite DK, yes Donkey Kong, instrument for So Many Foreign Homes). An iPad and molded in-ears (our drummer uses these so he can hear and stay on with us correctly) were stolen. A couple passports too, though I don’t believe we can do anything musically with those anyways.

It all comes out to about $2000 worth of stuff we use to play shows…probably sitting on Craigslist somewhere, not getting as much as it should.

If you happen to live in Atlanta and see a Macbook Pro for sale that has a black hard shell, blue/rainy background and anything with Eric Hillman’s name in any documents. Likewise for an iPad 2 with a matte screen protector and black case and anything with Aaron Tosti in it. And lastly, Tosti’s molded in-ears were gone. If you think you might have the same ears as Tosti, well, good for you. He has good ears. (But really, if you see a post about them, it would be greatly appreciated to contact us below).

FOR ANY OF THE ABOVE: Please email foreignfieldsmusic@gmail.com

Lastly, we’re poor. None of this was financed by anyone other than the band. We don’t have tour support, and we haven’t got much to throw towards these things. Donating $1, $5, or even $10 will go a long way towards helping us give you the show we want to again.

Thank you for reading and thank you to anyone who helps us out. It will go a long way. We’ll see you soon.
